About Mike

Personal

Mike Mondul was born into a Navy family in Newport R.I.. During his military dependent childhood, he lived in Rhode Island, Hawaii, Canada, California, and Italy. He has lived in Virginia for 30 years. He chose to make Danville the place to raise his family 16 years ago.

Mike and his lovely wife Mary have been married for 14 years and are the proud parents of four wonderful children: Mindy, Justin, Brooke and Angelia.

Education

1987 - Mike graduated from Herndon High School (VA). He also attended Naples American High School in Naples, Italy.
           (Mike was the co-captain of a two time Department of Defense football champion team; All Italy Defense 1985)

1992 - Mike graduated from Old Dominion University with a B.S. (Bachelor of Science) Degree in Education,
            He had two minors:
                                1. Health
                                2. Criminal Justice

2007- Mike graduated from Boston University with a M.S. (Master of Science) Degree in Criminal Justice.

Professional Service:

Serving with the Danville Police Department since 1993.

During his service for the Danville Police Department; Mike has served the citizens of Danville in the following areas:

Patrol; while in Patrol he was appointed as a Field Training Officer

S.W.A.T. (Special Weapons And Tactics) Team, and Honor Guard 5 years

DCJS (Division of Criminal Justice Services) Certified General Instructor,

Lawfit (Physical Fitness) Instructor at the Piedmont Regional Criminal Justice Academy,

Criminal Investigations Division,

Records Division Supervisor,

VCIN Coordinator,

Public Information Officer,

Piedmont Regional Crash Investigation Team manager,

Crime Scene Search Unit Supervisor,

Property and Evidence Vault Supervisor,

Maintains the Danville Police Department website

One year of juvenile corrections experience

Elected Danville City Sheriff: November 3, 2009.
